Cradle Kickstarter will Never Amount to Anything, Village Elders say
People around the village have been muttering to one another as they watch the Cradle book series prepare for the beginning of its animation Kickstarter, knowing that it has no chance at all of reaching its goal. For years, various tradesman, farmers, and scholars have watched Cradle as it continues to train, and then shook their heads at the waste of potential. “It’s sad,” says the local gossip. “I’ve known Cradle since before it was a freebie, and the child simply doesn’t have what it takes. Not everyone can make it through a successful Kickstarter, and certainly not some uppity indie book.”
Even with all the progress that Cradle has gone through since 2016, the elders still whisper quite loudly that it won’t amount to anything. “I’ve seen too many no-names rock up to an animation Kickstarter, thinking they’re going walk out with an Amazon deal like Critical Role, and end up getting nothing for their troubles,” the tavernkeeper grumbled as he wiped at a crusty mug. “If that book knows what’s good for it, it’ll aim for a leatherbound edition, and be happy if it gets a custom illustration.”
Despite the naysayers surrounding it, Cradle continues to train day and night, constantly cultivating its body and wallet for the rigorous gauntlet that Kickstarter will put it through the following month. Will Wight, Cradle’s author, has high hopes for his protégé. “I think that the elders of the village think they’ve seen everything, but they don’t know what Cradle is capable of. I’ve passed on all my heart, wit, and ability to describe epic fight scenes to it as well as anyone else could. Now Cradle just has to go on and prove them all wrong.” Wight then blindfolded Cradle and made it run up a model KickTraq mountain.
