Baldur’s Gate III Player keeps X-Card in Easy Reach
Theo Karr has been enjoying playing his playthrough of Baldur’s Gate II, but the sheer amount of sexual content has ensured that he keeps his X-card in easy reach. “Oh yeah, I’ve had to use it quite a bit already,” he said when we spoke to him this Monday. “I made a druid, and they just kept asking me if I ever wondered what it was like to have sex while Wild Shaped. And, I mean, now I have, but that doesn’t mean I want to play that out in a game, so I tapped the card, and then I tapped it again when then introduced an NPC that was obviously going to demonstrate it for us. I went searching through AO3 after the session like a normal person.”
Karr says that despite his constant use of the X-card, he’s been enjoying the game. “If it weren’t for how fun the game is, I’d probably dip out. When they’re not taking a compliment as an invitation to my tent, the NPCs are all really great to interact with. And BGIII loves handing out cheesy powerups alongside some other 5e homebrew they’ve cooked up. As long as they keep honoring the X-card, I’ll stick around.”
Karr says the amount of effort he had spent avoiding spoilers would have been better used on a session zero with Baldur’s Gate III. “I had spent so much time avoiding early access and spoilers so I could have a truly fresh playthrough when it turns out I should have used it as a chance to go through a session zero with BGIII. To be fair, they did give me a rundown of content warnings, but they did it sullenly, like they were legally obligated to do it. I explained to BGIII that I was down for brain slugs, blood-sucking, and even sex! But there’s only so much you can take in a single session. Too much and it starts to chafe a bit.”
