Forever DM awaits their Final Rest in the Heat Death of the Universe
Kai Grayson has been a dungeon master for countless eons, and now they await the heat death of the universe. They assumed the role of Forever DM after buying a copy of the D&D Adventure Game box in the 1990s. “I grabbed some nerdy friends, pulled out the pregens, and threw some monsters at them. If I had known that it would lead to me waiting here for the end of all things, I might have thought twice.” Grayson has resigned themselves to their fate to never take part in a game as a player, and awaits the culmination of entropy to be released from their shackles.
Grayson has had the chance to join several games, but it has never quite worked out. They said, “I remember a few millennia back during the Sapiens Imperium when the sun engulfed the earth. I thought I was going to be able to jump into a West Marches game, but then I found out it was all going to be played over psychovisor. Those things make my brain itch. That was around the time WotC finally announced a new Dark Sun book. Some sort of ironic release marketing.”
Only a few thousand stars still burn, but Grayson is not overly concerned about thermodynamic equilibrium. In fact, they hope that the death of the universe will finally end their own existence. “I gave up trying to find someone else to run a game long ago, so I think I’ll be happy for this to be all over. I mean, I liked it, don’t get me wrong. I ran some great games, and there are a ton of experiences and stories I would never give up for anything. But forever is a long time, you know.”
