Biden Railroad Plan Allocates Billions to the Illusion of Choice
President Biden’s administration has announced $16.4 billion as part of his campaign to make it look like America’s rail infrastructure has more options than it actually does. In a news brief from the White House, they declared, “President Biden’s investments will bolster our infrastructure, give more jobs to Americans, and foster a greater false sense of agency in our country.” While answering questions at the briefing, the President’s Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre clarified that President Biden “absolutely knows the direction you need to go, but also understands that it’s nice to feel like you have a choice in the matter.”
As President Biden looks toward the coming electoral season, he wants to assure voters that he will maintain the illusion of their free will throughout his entire presidency if reelected. Speaking in front of a stack of notebooks that implied a lot of planning, he said, “Folks, we’re going to have a great campaign for you coming up next year. I’ve gotten a lot of feedback about the last campaign, and a lot of you have said you want more options. So, I’ve got these notebooks up here chockablock full of notes on what to do if you decide to go your own way. Just pages and pages of ways I can use our expanded rail system to get you back to where you were supposed to go in the first place.”
Critics of the Biden plan question funding measures to stop Americans from going off-script, while also allocating an inordinate amount of manpower to create the appearance of cool locations and storylines in the distance. Victor Bennet of Ames, Iowa, asks “What’s the point of putting things like ‘The Iron Peaks,’ or ‘Tomb of the Forebears,’ if you don’t want us to go there? It’s very tiring to start going towards a ruined temple only to be turned away by the locals or have a guard unit block the route. It all feels like a waste of resources that could have gone to making the main route more engaging.”
